BLUE STOCKINGS TAKE 3RD PLACE IN DOWNERS GROVE CLASSIC

Blues 1-2 in three well-played games

In what they plan to make an annual event, The Downers Grove Plowboys welcomed the Somonauk Blue Stockings, along with the Creston Regulators and the Cincinnati Buckeyes to a round-robin tournament.

In the first match The Regulators edged the Plowboys by a score of 13-1 while the Blues battled the Buckeyes to a 3-2 win. In match 2 Cincinnati beat Creston while Downers Grove topped the Blues 3-2. Match 3 saw Creston over Somonauk 3-1 and Cincy over Downers 3-0.

It was a beautiful day for base ball. Sunshine and not too hot. There was a lot of very fine defensive play, including a remarkable play by Jersey who hiked the ball like a football to Stone behind him for the force out at 2nd base.
